The Umweltbundesamt is the expert authority of the federal government in Austria
for environmental protection and environmental control. The Umweltbundesamt is
the only expert institution in Austria that deals with all areas of environmental protection.
Within the scope of environmental control, the Umweltbundesamt records, analyses
and evaluates data on the state and development of the environment in all areas.
Every three years the State-of-the-Environment (SoE) Report which covers all
environmental media is produced. This Report describes the state and development
of the environment in Austria and is submitted to the Austrian National Assembly.
